I am trying to keep a close eye on the number of visitors to the backyard as the summer comes to an end. Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a number of Baltimore Orioles and Gold Finches visiting and I have throughly enjoyed watching them. Late this evening, Monk Parakeets were hanging around; no doubt, enticed by the sprinkler I had running. It is amazing what moving water could bring in to your backyard on a hot day. Here are some pictures from today's backyard bird watching.
First year Oriole at the bird bath.
Goldfinches at the feeder.
Baltimore Oriole in the backyard.
More Goldfinches at a specialized feeder (meaning that that the ports are specially designed for goldfinches). Notice how the Goldfinches feed upside down.
Monk Parakeets pay a visit, probably enticed by the sprinkler.
