Info Post
On Saturday August 16th, I went on a Hawk Watch Hike with the Urban Park Rangers at Inwood Park in Manhattan.    Inwood Forest, is one of the last remaining forest in Manhattan and is inhabited by a number of native and non-native species including, Tulip Trees, Red Oaks, Eastern White Pines and Norway Maples.    The area also has a number of birds including Black Capped Chickadees, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers and Red-tailed hawks, to name a few.

On Saturday, our guide Ranger Ron took us into the trails/hills in an effort to give us a glimpse of a fledgling red-tailed hawk, which was being reared in the area.     Unfortunately, we had no luck in seeing this magnificent bird and instead settled for, poison ivy, turkey tailed fungus, Cardinals, a Red-Bellied Woodpecker, a Great Blue Heron, Great Egrets, Laughing Gulls, an Eastern Ribbon Snake and a Black Squirrel.   Here are some pictures I took from the walk.
